No-Shave FUE (Long Hair)

Long-hair FUE without full shaving — ideal for professionals and short-stay patients.

No-Shave FUE (Long Hair) before and after case study collage

Overview

No-shave (long-hair) FUE allows extraction and implantation while keeping most of your existing length — only a small donor zone may be trimmed or hairs threaded aside. This appeals to professionals, women, and patients with limited time off work.

The technique demands more time and skill: grafts are harvested between long hairs and implanted without shaving the recipient zone, often using DHI pens or specialised tools.

Not every patient qualifies — graft count targets may be lower than full-shave sessions, and donor visibility during healing must be planned. Consultation with photos determines feasibility.

Good candidates

  • Patients who cannot shave for work or personal reasons
  • Moderate sessions where graft goals fit unshaven protocols
  • Hairline touch-ups and temple work (common no-shave use cases)
  • Women and men with sufficient donor length to conceal extraction sites

How the procedure works

  1. 1 Feasibility review — graft target, hair length, donor access
  2. 2 Marking hidden donor window or selective parting
  3. 3 Long-hair FUE extraction with specialised positioning
  4. 4 DHI or micro-implantation without recipient shave
  5. 5 Styling tutorial to cover donor immediately post-op
  6. 6 Follow-up photos at 1 week to adjust styling if needed

Recovery timeline

Day 1–3

Existing hair conceals much of the work; sleep carefully to avoid graft displacement.

Day 4–14

Wash gently without pulling long hairs across grafts.

Month 2–6

Gradual visibility as new hairs emerge through length.

Month 12+

Blend assessment; further session discussed only if donor allows.

Frequently asked questions

How many grafts are possible without shaving?

Often fewer than a full-shave mega-session — commonly hundreds to low thousands depending on hair length and donor. We set realistic numbers upfront.

Is no-shave the same as DHI?

They overlap — many no-shave cases use DHI implantation — but they are not identical terms. No-shave describes visibility; DHI describes implantation tool.

Can women have a hair transplant?

Yes — most female patients are planned under our no-shave long-hair protocol, not as a separate technique. We focus on part-line thinning, temple recession, and blending with existing length so daily styling stays natural.

Can anyone get no-shave FUE?

Very tight curls, very short hair, or large bald areas may still need partial or full shave. Honest assessment prevents disappointment.
